At Biscuit Belly, community is at the heart of everything we do, and there’s no better way to celebrate this than by giving back to the community that supports us. This past 4th of July, we had the opportunity to serve up 500 of our famous Scratch-made biscuits at the St. Matthew’s Independence Day 5k. Despite the rainy start to the morning, the event was a resounding success with 600 dedicated runners in attendance.
A Day of Community and Celebration
Hosted by St. Matthew’s Baptist Church, the Independence Day 5k has a long- standing history, starting back in 1970. Partnering with River City Races, we joined an array of fantastic vendors, including Ken Combs Running Store, Chick-Fil-A St. Matthews, Berserker Brew Coffee, and the Independance Bank to create a memorable day for all participants. The St. Matthew’s Area Ministries benefited greatly from this event, showcasing the spirit of unity and support that defines our community.
Biscuits: The Post- Race Treat
Our delicious biscuits served as a delightful post- race treat for many of the runners. While some enjoyed our biscuits as a pre-race snack, the real celebration began after the race. It was a joy to see participants come back for seconds, and little ones with biscuits in hand, doing happy dances while eating our biscuits
Rain or Shine, We Shine Together
Even though the day began with rain, it did nothing to dampen the spirits of those in attendance. The energy was high, and the sense of community was strong. We were thrilled to see so many familiar faces and to make new friends, as we shared our love for great food and great company.
Looking Forward
We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful event and to support the St. Matthew’s Area Ministries. Seeing the joy on everyone’s faces as they enjoyed our biscuits reminded us why we do what we do. We can’t wait to participate in more community events, and continue spreading love, one biscuit at a time.
